Wearables and Soft Computing

This course focuses on wearable and ‘soft’ computing as a vehicle for artistic engagement with the fields of sculpture, design, technology, and time-based media. The course introduces students to circuit building, ‘soft’ circuitry techniques, and physical computing.

As part of their final project grade Wearable Computing students were required to submit video documentation of their final projects. This documentation was a hefty portion of their grade and it was stressed that since these projects are interactive, video documentation will be the way that much of their audience first learns about this work. In the video they were required to demonstrate the project, describe the situation or design problem that inspired the project, and explain how the project works.
